Putting on my big girl panties and dealing with it.

I watch different types of youtube videos, my favorite (of course!) are Filofax and planner videos.  I know I'm  obsessive about them (My family is utterly baffled) but I  can't get enough.

It's wonderful that there are so many popping up daily now.  Used to wait weeks for a new one to show up but now, most days, there are several.

I do watch other types of videos though, most I got hooked on because I needed something to do while I waited for Imy to post (For a long time Imy was the only one posting Filofax Videos!)

I watched endless hours of make up review/haul videos as well as videos about Japanese Food, nail polish/art, dieting, cleaning, crafts, and English comedy television.

Some of my very favorite things to watch were 'Shopping my Stash' videos.  Since I don't 'haul' much I appreciated the kind of videos where people found renewed love for things they already have...

And that's the point of this blog post, shopping my Filofax supply stash.  I went through a lot of things I have recently while prepping my recent swap.   I found all kinds of things I couldn't believe I hadn't used in ages.  Maybe that's something we should all do from time to time?  It's good to reassess what you have periodically.

I don't have a craft room (or even a craft area) because I have a small home so supplies are relegated to a few vintage leather suitcases I picked up at a yard sale ten plus years ago.

Clearly a kerfuffle of office supplies.

The plus is I can close it make the ugly go away. Soon I'm going to put my big girl panties on and deal with this fully... But I have made some rediscoveries...

hold that thought transparent arrows

OH!  I have a brand new, unopened pack of transparent arrows!  And yay for that!

minimarks transfers

The American Crafts Mini Mark Transfers!  Great for decorating dividers...

tiny numbered dots

A while back I bought some tiny numbered dots.  Great for undated planners!

date stamp

My date stamp, oh! How I've missed you!

I'm quite sure I'll find a ton of favorite items that I lost track of shopping my own stash.  Anyone want to join me?

Punctuate Planner Winners

Filo Dieters United

There's a new group on Facebook called Filo Dieters United  (FDU) and the discription is right up my alley: "A Filofax/Philofaxy fans health support group! A place where you can share your weight loss/weight gain stories, recipes, results or even how you maintain your health! Of course please share how your filofax helps you stay on track. Let's support one another. :) Please no selling or swapping filos/stationery here."

It's a closed group which is great, I don't want the entire internet reading about (and probably pointing and laughing at)  my stretch marks or how my kid is 21 and I'm still at my delivery weight.   If you wish to join you will need administrator approval which is also great, I don't want my non-Filofax using nosy neighbor to stumble on it.

I've lost four pounds since being a member.  There is no official Filo Dieter food plan, we're all doing something that perfect for us and for me it's a low carbohydrate diet.   I've been doing low carb (The Atkins Plan) since April 2012 ( with the exception of April 2013 ).  I hadn't been making a lot of  weight loss progress and stepped back into carbs figuring, why not?  Why keep doing it if the scale is being a giant pain in my zip-my-jeans-up-while-laying-down behind.

But I didn't feel well, not well at all.  Around the middle of May, about the time I started reading FDU I realized I wanted to go back.  Even if I don't lose very fast, or not at all, I just feel awful eating carbs.

Where did my #filofax go today? Mr Malden was happy to help me grocery shop today!

Integrating my eating habits in a Filofax is perfect for me, it's always with me and can store how I'm doing, what my intentions are, and keep me honest.   I started tracking water seriously over the last few weeks and drink a lot more.  Interestingly, I find the more I drink, the more I lose.  I've made a few half-hearted attempts at tracking food and never kept them up but with the success I've had with water I'm going to try harder with food.

For me a place to write down everything - what's working, what's not, recipes.... how I feel... why I'm doing it in the first place... is just what I need.  I'm going to do it on my daily pages in no particular format because if I start getting bogged down on adding a whole section, finding the perfect insert, and looking for washi tape that goes with a weight loss theme...  Well, it's over before I start.

Just writing it down, tracking as I go, is enough of a good start and I think posting online, sharing with a community of like-minded people, will motivate and help me.

Decluttering my Filofaxes

In my decluttering process I've  had to make some difficult decisions.  Some things are easy to toss, others not so much.  I don't have as many Filofaxes as some people but if I'm being honest, and that's the heart of decluttering, I have more then I can reasonably use.

I'm going to let go of The Jolly Green Filofax and my Success Choice Binder but decisions around Mr. Malden are harder.

I did a revisiting video yesterday and wanted to expand on it a bit here. While my Portland Grand is perfection in almost all ways it's difficult to store printed pages.  I can do some fancy page origami and get almost anything in but accessing the info requires equally fancy reverse origami; okay if I don't want to look at it much but not very workable for things I may need to see everyday.

The problem has mostly to do with Ventura's section, receipts, and things in the home area like recipes and these Martha Stewart check lists I wanted to print.

I'm working my way through her  Homekeeping Handbook (the checklists are in there) but it's easier to just print them off her website (here).

With Mr. Malden I can print them without changing the size which helps a lot; sizing down to Personal results in pretty small print.   I printed two of the checklists yesterday (double-sided) and they sit nicely in my home section.

So what to do with Mr. Malden?   Well, the plan is to use him exclusively for a week and see what successes (or failures) I encounter.  I've not had a lot of luck running two full planners at once but one main one and one with a specific purpose (like when I used my Pocket Rio as a wallet and Mr. Malden at my main planner) has worked well.

I'd hate to let Mr. Malden go, he's such a work horse.  You can't beat perfect  30 mm rings with a stick and even though I used him exclusively for.... a year? Maybe more...He's showing no wear and remains the good little organizing soldier he was the day we met.

And P.S. I decided to keep the used-up-gift-card-washi-tape-holder-thingies in the rings after all.  It's an easy way to carry washi tape in a Filofax and I might do a few more, one color theme per card.  I cut slits in the holes so I can move the card easily from one day to the next.

A Filofax un-haul...

I just got home from Michael's, haven't been there in a very, very long time.  Last time I went there was no Smash stuff, no washi tape, and much less Hello Kitty.  Guess it demonstrates what's currently popular.

It's an un-haul because I didn't buy anything to dress up my Filofax, just took pictures.

I felt like a voyeur..

But I couldn't help it, I've never seen a lot of these things.

I don't know what it is about envelopes but I love 'em.

And these drawer pulls.  I think that's what's missing on my Filofax...  Sticking out the cover, you know what I mean?

I love things that look like vintage travel souvenirs.  They make me feel like I leave my house.

Never saw this brand before....

And the scrapbook paper went on and on, into the horizon.  Maybe it's me but I look at this aisle, paper as far as the eye can see and all I think is, dividers.  Thousands and thousands of dividers...

Not to mention the were books of dividers, I mean scrap book paper.

I loved the text/clock sheet.

And the washi.... I missed the sale, guys.   It was all full price.

Every where I walked Hello Kitty was staring back.

But like I said, it was an un-haul.
