Filo Dieters United

There's a new group on Facebook called Filo Dieters United  (FDU) and the discription is right up my alley: "A Filofax/Philofaxy fans health support group! A place where you can share your weight loss/weight gain stories, recipes, results or even how you maintain your health! Of course please share how your filofax helps you stay on track. Let's support one another. :) Please no selling or swapping filos/stationery here."

It's a closed group which is great, I don't want the entire internet reading about (and probably pointing and laughing at)  my stretch marks or how my kid is 21 and I'm still at my delivery weight.   If you wish to join you will need administrator approval which is also great, I don't want my non-Filofax using nosy neighbor to stumble on it.

I've lost four pounds since being a member.  There is no official Filo Dieter food plan, we're all doing something that perfect for us and for me it's a low carbohydrate diet.   I've been doing low carb (The Atkins Plan) since April 2012 ( with the exception of April 2013 ).  I hadn't been making a lot of  weight loss progress and stepped back into carbs figuring, why not?  Why keep doing it if the scale is being a giant pain in my zip-my-jeans-up-while-laying-down behind.

But I didn't feel well, not well at all.  Around the middle of May, about the time I started reading FDU I realized I wanted to go back.  Even if I don't lose very fast, or not at all, I just feel awful eating carbs.

Where did my #filofax go today? Mr Malden was happy to help me grocery shop today!

Integrating my eating habits in a Filofax is perfect for me, it's always with me and can store how I'm doing, what my intentions are, and keep me honest.   I started tracking water seriously over the last few weeks and drink a lot more.  Interestingly, I find the more I drink, the more I lose.  I've made a few half-hearted attempts at tracking food and never kept them up but with the success I've had with water I'm going to try harder with food.

For me a place to write down everything - what's working, what's not, recipes.... how I feel... why I'm doing it in the first place... is just what I need.  I'm going to do it on my daily pages in no particular format because if I start getting bogged down on adding a whole section, finding the perfect insert, and looking for washi tape that goes with a weight loss theme...  Well, it's over before I start.

Just writing it down, tracking as I go, is enough of a good start and I think posting online, sharing with a community of like-minded people, will motivate and help me.

I love this idea! I have some posts on using your Filofax for weight loss on my blog here: http://thisbugslife.com/2013/01/02/losing-weight-the-filofax-way-parts-1234/

Absolutely agree! I'm going to go join that group right now. It's exactly what I've been looking for.

Oh, Tracy! Several things you said resonated with me. Great post. I'm having trouble with getting all the water down. Some days I just don't want to take my supplements. It's torture giving up carbs...bread is my drug. Seriously. Other people crave chocolate, desserts, cookies, chips...me, I crave warm, delicious bread dripping with butter. Any kind, any time. Sigh. The part that made me laugh at loud was when you said you were going to record your food and such in your regular diary pages and not wait for the perfect insert, washi tape, section, etc. Hahaha. I can SO relate! I tried setting up a health and fitness A5 several months ago and never got it right...the Filo or the diet! I guess I better check out this group. Thanks for this post!
