Personal Portland Wrap-Up...

I don't know why I was so resistant about turning my Portland Personal into a wallet, honestly it didn't didn't involve much; I added my license and credit card to the back.

I'd been using a small zipper pouch for cards, bills, and change and didn't see how I could hold all the coins in a Filofax... And that was the answer, I can't.  (I still use a separate pouch for change.)    I think my resistance was a bit too much black and white thinking, either is all works or it's all a bust.

I've continued with my Personal Experiment because so much of it works so well.  My grocery lists are written in something that comes with me to the store and  if I need to write something down in the car it's right there riding shotgun.   These things alone have been a huge help.  There isn't the same constant transfer of information from one place to another.

I was forever looking for tiny bits of paper and going to the grocery store without my list.

One other thing....I really love my new date stamp, something about the way it looks really appeals to me.

I started by putting the stamp on the top but moved it to the side edge because that's where my eye naturally goes with I look at pages.  Thumbing through my side-dated to-do sheets, it's really a breeze  figuring out where I am.

This might just be me but there's something very natural about the dates being there.  It just makes... Sense.

Oh, and the highlighters...

I did a little trial using the a bunch of pens and three highlighters.  A Hi-Liter, a Preppie and a Post-It pen.

The orange one is a few years old and a Post-It brand pen (and contains post-it flags).  Of all the highlighters I have it smears  what's under it the least and doesn't dull down the ink...  and that's probably the point of highlighting.

Honestly, it's been a surprising success for me.  I committed to using it a week but I'm not aching to get back to my A5 like I have in the past.  I'm perfectly content with the personal size and at the moment have no plans to move out.

The only thing I did differently this time was to commit to actually using it and working past any issues that came up.  Life lesson learned:  Commitment is the biggest factor for success in all things, even Filofaxes.
