Ad of the day, Beautiful Glasbake and a little history, May 5, 2012

Before the 1970's  black and white ads were the norm.  Sometimes, like this ad, there was one color to catch the reader's eye.   I don't post a lot of black and white ads because visually they aren't as appealing but sometimes I love the product so much I do.

This is one of those times.

Glasbake started with the McKee Glass Company,  founded in 1843 ( McKee and Brothers Glass in Pittsburgh, PA.)  McKee Glass  made items under its own name and produced Glasbak.

In 1961 the company was purchased by Jeannette Glass which dates these as early pieces.  This ad came from a September 1962 House & Garden Magazine.

long before electric warmers were being used these were great ways to having meals able to stay warm

now we have a microwave and are running back and forth all the time

think we have lost a great part of enjoying fine dining
