October 2011 e.l.f Dollar products you can't beat with a stick

I watch a lot of Youtube beauty and 'What's in my purse?' videos - I can't explain it but I can't get enough of those purse videos - It's an embarrassing addiction, some sort of crazy sickness I don't understand.

I post some (like nine) videos but unless you're interested in the inside of my planners or my dog, don't bother.

Every month people do their current favorites and I've wanted to do something like that  forever so thought I'd give it a go on my blog.

First,  some e.l.f. dollar products because I've ordered a lot of e.l.f. lately.

This is a two-sided product, each with a doe-foot applicator.  One side is the plumper and the other color.  I can't even remember what color gloss I got because although it's actually a really nice I was so blown away by the plumper I rarely use the gloss.

I've tried more expensive plumpers and didn't notice a thing until I tried two new ones, both e.l.f. (The other is coming soon).

The smell is, hm - Oddly medicinal but whatever... I love the way this works.  I'd buy it if it didn't have gloss attached.

This eyeliner pen in coffee is my favorite thing, hands down for my brows.  I can't say how it would be as a liner, I suspect it's better for brows because it tends to be a bit dry and light.  If you have light to medium brown brows and don't want to mess with pencils give this a try but buy more then one they tend to dry out fast.

I've tried to use similar brown liners from other brands but I ended up looking like Groucho Marx.

Not a good look, right?

These give you a lighter, more subtle line.  Perfect!  And store them tip down.

I got these as part of nail kit never thinking of ordering these on my own.  I ended up loving them, they are amazing, really convenient and I've ordered at least three more since I got my first free one.

They remove polish, even the dark colors and do a very respectable job on thick polish.

I've found they work as well on glitter as anything else which is just challenging without a jack-hammer.

These feel really nice, they are so moisturizing.  I remember thinking, this is a dollar product?  Keep in mind they are a soft product (not a hard waxy one), more suitable for carrying in a purse then a pocket.  I think these would get overly soft in your pocket but oh!  The formula feels so nice on your lips.

I bought the strawberry cream and the orange cream and I like them both.  With winter coming I anticipate purchasing more; for me and stocking stuffers.

Another A! Ha! dollar item that came as part of a kit.  I used to buy a Burt's Bees product that contained almond oil and lemon butter in a little tin, I liked it very much.  Still do but it costs six times as much as this does and I like this just as much...

What I like about both is I can carry them in my purse and use them anytime but the nice thing about this pen is I don't have to stick my hand in the tin so it's just neater.

More to come!

The current e.l.f. coupon code is Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off! Use code BOGO50 on orders $20 or more. Some exclusions may apply. Offer cannot be combined with other promotions, coupon codes, or applied to previous purchases. Ends 10/17!

Drumroll, please....

Another half pound down... Drumroll....  NINETEEN POUNDS!

And whoa, I'm SO close to another Nutribear!  I keep my current bear by the computer although I've had to move him from his prior home on a low shelf recently.

Because I'm not the only one who finds him irresistible.

Ventura is a lover of all thing stuffy and Nutribear is just too tempting.

And while I owe this big boy quite a lot, after all he has made certain that I walk four times a day at least - Rain or Shine, he can not have my bears!  Sorry, honey.

The longer I'm on Nutrisystem the more I appreciate how easy it is and how much sense it makes because face it, everything's a Honeymoon at first!  But a few months down the road ....  Well, you know what I mean.

What seemed like a breeze the first week suddenly feels like you're slogging uphill through oatmeal in February and the next thing you know you're making your own rules...

No breakfast today so I can eat more at lunch! A few extras because, hey! Gotta live! And what was once a cup serving - and you knew because at first you measured - is now a cup..ish.

And as the serving sizes crept up so did the scale (and the view of you from the rear) until you did the inevitable; quit!

Because, hey! My diet's not working anymore! (And you cry to the heavens... Why, oh why, does that always happen to me?)

I love that my food comes to me in neat serving sizes all packaged up for the month, with snacks. - Even though I'm big on salty snacks (much to the chagrin of my ankles at times) I've loved ice cream sandwiches and Creamsicles since before I had cellulite...  that's a really long time in case you don't know. -  There is no fooling with myself about how much and I'm always ready for my next meal.

Having a full pantry of just what you need is crucial for any diet plan; Nutrisystem just makes this so simple.

Here's the thing though, instead of my plan and the food getting 'old' and my feeling like I want to be done already... I feel more in the groove of healthy eating the longer I'm on.

This is a great example of a new habit: I've never been a big breakfast eater but I've made a semi-truce (which involves doing it without complaining) with the fact that it's good for me, (similar to my stance on exercise) and found I really love the Nutrisystem Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal (with a banana)...

I had that almost every day last month and miss it already.  In fact, I can imagine eating oatmeal in the morning becoming a lifelong 'thing' with me...     Eating oatmeal daily is a peachy thing to do for yourself, by the way, and that habit is something that will stay with me looooong after I'm getting their Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal delivered.

Check out Nutrisystem if you haven't before, they have some great specials going on and take a look through the website if you haven't, the forums are fab and their Facebook page is terrific you don't have to be a member to ask questions!

Ventura's new trick...

When he get's excited it looks more like this...

After looking at the second video about 20 times I realized he's following the hand signals not the words - Wow, is all I have to say.  Never in my life did I have a dog that could do that.

Letter to his sweetheart, April 1943

Here is another letter Guy sent to Dot while he was in the army;  the return address is a "Training Center" so I guess that means he's still in basic training?  This is one of the letters he includes a blank post card, he does that a lot.

Most that I've run across are the sweet, I miss you kind - Hearts and kittens so Polar Bear Hunting is a bit odd but...  I guess he was feeling a bit morose this day.

Clicking on the letters will give you bigger images.

Rooing and Roaching

If you don't know what rooing and roaching are, press play.

Rooing is the noise and roaching is the position.

One more class until he graduates from Adult One Obedience and the following week he's signed up for Adult Two.

I've also taught him handy little tricks like, Give me your nose!   wherein he puts his nose in my palm.  Ben says it's useless and stupid but it amuses Ventura and I endlessly.

And Ginger enjoys it as well because when I'm training him, it's like Niagara Falls was made of chicken and the poultry's flowing into the River Minipin.

Filofax and food

About three weeks ago my kid said, Ma. Are we ever going to have Bubble Pizza again?

And it got me thinking about all the things I never make because I forget about them.  Things like Sticky Chicken  and oh! They are delicious and..

Pantry chicken recipe

...Turn out beautiful without fail.

And talk about perfect timing.  I was having company Friday night and didn't know what to make but Sticky Chicken is easy and always perfect.

To help me navigate my recipe disorganization  I've added a section in my Filofax.  The plan is to keep three basic things; recipes my family loves,  the ones that are perfect for entertaining and a general list of favorites.

filofax food section

I started the section on Thursday.

The recipes I couldn't find formatted as 3 x 5 cards I was able to cut and paste into recipe card Microsoft Word Templates. From there I just cut them and glued them onto a blank Filofax page.

Obviously this isn't something everyone needs but for me, it's a great new Filofax section.
