Walking buddy

It's week 11 on Nutrisystem and it's a no harm, no foul week (i.e. no loss no gain - Steady as she goes at 14 pounds).  And while I haven't bellied up to any Smörgåsbords this week ( or this summer) I haven't moved enough either.  I've always got a good reason (the heat - it has been over a hundred degrees a lot -  the humidity, I'm tired.... There's something else I need to do) for not moving but the bottom line is ...  Well, my bottom.  Which remains impressive.

I've worked out a solution.

His name is Ventura.

He's a 75 pound four year old retired racing greyhound with a healing broken leg that needs to go for walks a few times a day.  My nineteen year old minipin, Ginger doesn't want to walk far these days plus if she doodies in the house well, it's nothing a snack bag can't pick up.  Ventura on the other hand, no. Just no.  No snack bags for Ventura.

His doody is an event of garbage bagean proportions.

I've never been so motivated to leave my house and walk which sounds like a great exercise plan to me.

Not that greyhounds need miles and miles of walks; they are more like nappers that wake up to sprint 45 miles per hour.

And then go back to sleep.

In week 8 of the Mindset Makeover I read: There are lots of small ways to increase your activity throughout the day. The key is to think about how you can make anything you do more active, whether it's for 10 minutes or even 10 seconds.    And that is so true.

I need to get the walks going slowly at first because I haven't been that active and Ventura needs to get them going slowly as his leg heals.  Eventually we can both get healthier.

I think we can both accomplish wonderful things while walking.
