The Crazy Suburban Mom: Mrs. Dash a-ha moment

Mrs. Dash a-ha moment

In the last year I've posted a couple o' few times about the ways I've incorporated Mrs. Dash seasonings into my cooking.    My favorite Mrs. Dash a-ha! moment was that I could use one, or more, of the spice blends to make to make a no (or low) salt version of sticky chicken.

And because there are so many blends your delicious chicken possibilities are endless.

At least that was my favorite a-ha moment until this Father's day.

My dad is very hard to buy gifts for.  For years he returned everything I got him because well, who knows, probably a few things.  First, he can buy what he wants, second he doesn't want much and third...   I don't know but the whole thing was hurting my feelings something awful....

The last straw was when I tried gift cards and he gave them to my sister.  I mean, Dad.  Really, my own sister?

It wasn't bad enough that Mommy liked her better,  now this.  How much can a person take?

That's when I started giving him things he couldn't return.  Things like virtual zoo adoptions (No really, he loves that stuff I wasn't just being mean to my sister) and food gifts.  Barbecue stuff and tea; he loves tea, I've given him a lot of tea over the last few years.  But I wanted to try something different this year...

This Father's Day I gave him the entire line of Mrs. Dash Seasoning and crossed my fingers.    About a month later I was at the house when he was making dinner; he was up to the salad and pulled out Mrs. Dash and started sprinkling it all over the salad.

"Dad, you're using it!" I said.

And he said he uses it all the time on lots of stuff; not just the salad, he loves it.  And then my sister walked in, saw him making the salad and was all nom noming, "Mmmmmm! What flavor are you using today?"

And I said, You like it too?

And she said, Oh yeah.  Daddy puts a different flavor on the salad every day.  It's SO good.

This was the best gift I'd gotten him in oh, I don't even know how long.

It's delicious, and healthy and he never would have gone out and bought them all so what a treat it is for him to have and explore all the new flavors.

Buying him all the Mrs. Dash flavors was perfect because really, he needed another chia pet like he needs a hole in the head but Mrs. Dash!  That he uses every day!

And okay, looks like he's still giving the stuff I get him to my sister, but in a good way this time.

We love Mrs. Dash, too! I use both the original and steak mixes pretty frequently. I haven't experimented with other varieties yet.

I love Mrs. Dash too! They are very good, adds lots of flavor without all the salt. By the way I understand about giving gifts to people who are hard to buy for! This was a great idea! I may give this to my dad....he loves to cook!
