The Crazy Suburban Mom: I always wanted to be somebody but now...

I always wanted to be somebody but now...

Does anyone do resolutions?  In the past, me - Not so much because most people I know make them and then break them in a day and a half but maybe they could work if you put some muscle behind them.  Some real intention.

I'm trying to come up with a list of things I want to accomplish next year, improve upon, or focus energy on because something Lily Tomlin said keeps clanging my lazy ass:

“I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.”

And I  feel like that is where I am in my life; at somewhere doing something but not really steering the Good Ship Tracy.

Maybe I need something more visual, like a dream board  or the Filofax version of a dream board.  I'm mulling a whole DREAM section for my Filofax and  building it over 2011; that's more appealing  then a static list.

I started changing it already, adding a picture of my two-year-old self in the very, very front.  There's something that little girl's been trying to tell me for years.

Maybe she's ready now.

It definitely makes me wish I had a bigger Filofax (for bigger DREAMS) but I think this might work for me.  But what do you guys do?  Do you write a list?  Or have a dream board?   Or do you just make mental notes to yourself...

What works for you when you need to reevaluate?

We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success.  Henry David Thoreau

I really like this post. I am feeling very 'stuck' lately and trying to get my feet out of the mud. A dream board might help to get me focused.

I can relate. Lately, I've had a feeling like, "I know there is something else I'm supposed to be doing with my life...but what?" I don't do resolutions, but I do make goals for myself. A few long term and then a bunch of short term. I like the idea of a dream board, though.

No it's not just you :)

But as much as I love planning and use several planners and adore my Filofaxs I am trying to learn to appreciate being in the present and with the people I love as things can change so rapidly. As well so I am also thinking about 2011 and want to make it the year that I build a memory bank of experiences - so my new year resolutions will include places to go, things to see and people to hug.

Merry Christmas
