The Crazy Suburban Mom: Guess what this is...

Guess what this is...

If you said banister, you'd be wrong because everyone knows it's a coat rack.

From time to time I've had it up to here - and I'm so pointing at my forehead if I was two feet taller- and yell Enough! to myself because no one listens and start leaving notes.

Because a banister without a note is a coat rack and a banister with a note is a banister.  And I got another one for you so guess what this is....

If you said  the carpet Tracy hates more with each passing day and the first thing people see when they walk in her front door - Well, okay you'd be right but really and get this, guys - It looks like an ordinary staircase but no!

It's a magical transporter - albeit covered in the worst carpet in the history of worst carpets -  and anytime you don't feel like going upstairs you can leave - Well, anything apparently - And enchanted ooompa loompas  whisk the items upstairs and deposit them (neatly) in their appointed locals.

But this oompa loompa's tired, man.  And since I was making notes anyway...

And in case they thought I only meant that particular step...

One more.  Any guesses?

I'm going to talk about that tomorrow.

HA HA! How about putting a velvet rope up and telling them no entrance without toting their belongings with them? LOL

Carole Anne Carr 11/15/10, 10:39 AM

Re the stuff on the stairs, tell him that if he slips on the papers, he won't be receiving any sympathy! :0)

Maureen 11/15/10, 12:43 PM

I need to make some signs....lots of signs!

Ben Reinhardt 11/15/10, 1:49 PM

I live here and I don't even know what that last picture is!

Tara Beaulieu 11/15/10, 3:40 PM

LMAO at Ben's reply! I am gonna guess it's the floor by the stove and/or fridge... which is probably near a back door or something?

I don't have a staircase anymore. Of course when we lived in a two story house I really didn't either. It was a toy box. ;)

Lynette, Would that it was that easy...

Carole Ann - No sympathy? lolol

Maureen - oh yes. We all do...

Ben.....That's dirt that I found on the kitchen floor and you don't know what it is because dirt is invisible to everyone but me around here. Apparently.

Tara - Yep, thats what it is. How Ben didn't know, I have no idea...sheeeesh

I could make signs like this all day, they'd just put their stuff on top! I got some cheap baskets, put names on them, and I fill them with their stuff, and make them put it away at the end of the day, at least I'm not tripping on things or walking up and down the stairs putting stuff away that's not mine anymore! although sometimes getting the baskets back is hard.

Babes Mami 11/15/10, 6:04 PM

I'm guessing you found all of that under something? I have mine trained that coats that come off get hung up. It took a lot of work but Babe is still too little to tell.

:D! Selective Vision!

Totally love it, just read the post out loud to my hubby and we both laughed out loud!

Gabriele Agustini 11/15/10, 10:45 PM

This is one hysterical post! Haaaa!
Thanks for the laughs!
Love your sense of humor.

LOL! Sure is hard to keep things where they should be isn't it?

Ruth 11/16/10, 7:15 AM

My son Matt does that coat-on-banister thing all the time! When he's not dumping it on the floor of course....our forest-fire level hot spot is the dining room table, sometimes I can't believe how much junk gets dumped there and just left. Actually Matt's not too bad about taking stuff off when he's asked, but Rachel? Ask her one too many times and she rolls her eyes at me and yells "stop asking! I'll do it later!" or some such thing. As always, later never comes and Mom ends up taking it away....

Lin 11/16/10, 7:57 AM

Ugh. We've got a counter where everyone leaves what they want me to put away. You know--those things that noooobody else can find a place for or doesn't know what to do with. Ugh. I'm gonna start throwing it all away. Do you think they will notice?

Pollyanna 11/16/10, 3:31 PM

Our dumping ground is the kitchen island. I've started throwing things away. Things that get missed - like Littlest Pet Shop doo-dads, misc. electronic cables, etc. I keep the change for myself though :)

I've got dark greenish aqua carpeting that I hate with a passion. Completely understand.

Great use of signs.
