As cute as Peeps and twice as sweet....
There are a lot of people who crave expensive, high quality chocolate.
Something along the lines of, oh I dunno, little darlings hand-dipped by actual Munchkins from Oz, scented with lavender (the chocolate, not the Munchkins), flavored with chili and then gold leafed before each one is carried to a boutique chocolatier on the wings of a sparkly pink unicorn...
Me, not so much. Give me that artificially flavored, no naturally occurring colors, three bags for a dollar garbage and I'm set.
When I found out there were Gummy Sponge Bob Krabby Patties
I wept...
The only thing I (might) like better then candy no one over the age of seven would eat on a bet is...
Japanese snacks...
Some of it's (probably) much better then the stuff I glom down...
Pocky is one of the better thens...
And some of it is down right bizarre.
Although don't knock chocolate pudding filled marshmallows until you've tried them. They are pretty addicting.
I love the packaging...
Sometimes I don't even know what I've bought until I rip it open.
I love the names...
Smile Happy Biscuits. Come. On. What's not to like?

Seriously, this stuff is as cute as Peeps and twice as sweet.

Hard to imagine, isn't it?

14 People got a gold star today!:
I too am lured in by names...plus the packages are so cute!
It is good to know I am not alone. I have been addicted to Japanese snacks since I first wondered into that aisle!
Mmm, Pocky Sticks. :)
I remember fish candy -- actual fish-flavoured sweet candy when I was in Asia. Thankfully not all of it was, erm, foreign :)
I love japanese snacks! And I miss going to Chinatown to get my fix! Pocky...yum! I find I like the salty Pocky (like pizza and roasted corn, let's not forget salad pocky) better than sweet pocky...
But those marshmallows! BIG YUM! I could down a bag right now!
when i worked for a japanese company, one of the girls said the dark chocolate pocky was called mens' pocky because "it was not so sweet." does that mean that bittersweet chocolate pocky should be 'divorcee's pocky?"
Yum...I'm drooling over all that delicious candy... :-)
you r making my teeth hurt
Japanese Candy is full of the win.
They are super-cute, unfortunately I prefer the dark chocolate stuff you first described, but I like to buy random asian candies just for fun!
Although I am one of those gourmet chocolate lovers (the excuse being that the more expensive they are, the less I'll eat), I too have a weakness for Japanese candy. That reminds me... the Gold Line (one of L.A.'s fab metro rails, and the one closest to me) goes through Little Tokyo now. Must make a run!
you have no idea the fun I have here at the 1oo yen shops!! they sell stuff 4 for 100 yen (100 yen is kinda like a dollar) I found the BEST soft taffy stuff filled with a powder, that stuff is AWESOME!
ooo and the baked goods!! ahhhhh
you can be jealous now
Krabby Patties...the best candy EVER! My son filled a clay pot with them as my Easter gift this year, and it was the best present ever! lol!
Oooh, it looks too sweet for me, but the packaging is tempting.
I love the new look! Are you changing your header like every 20 minutes??? Crud. I feel guilty that I haven't updated my photos in a long time!
I have always loved Japanese candy and snacks and now the rest of my family does too :)
