I ♥ Melba Toast

I ♥ Melba Toast, I've always liked it and I probably always will.  I know some people pass right by them in the snack aisle and I so don't get that.

I can't think of anything else that gives me the same loud satisfying (Mom, I can't hear the TV when you're eating those) crunch quotient as my Melbas.  Well, one that's not fried or spray painted day-glo orange anyway.

No, not even them.  My Melbas are crunchier now that I think about it.

Mom Central sent me an email telling me about Dance your way to Hollywood :

 and offering me free Melbas, did I want them?

I do lots of things with them and they are very Weight Watcher friendly. I can't tell you how friendly because Weight Watchers frowns on that kind of thing but 4 Sea Salt Melbas are: Calories 50, Fat 1, Fiber 1

Also if I have two of them they would come out to zecough..coughro. 

I don't just glom them down alone at home (Really.  I don't.); I serve them at parties.  The best and easiest party hors d'oeuvres is Melba Toast related.

Top a Melba toast with..

Brie or Cream Cheese (any octane will do)
Top cheese with a small bit of hot pepper jelly.

Repeat. 

The crunch of the Melba, the creamy smoothness of the cheese and the sweet hot of the jelly is the best one-bite you've ever had.  You can also do this with French bread.  But it doesn't have the same crunch which adds another dimension. 

And if you're looking for something to work your free radicals with antioxidant goodness...

Or you just want chocolate...

•4 cups (2-12-oz. pkg.) of semi sweet chocolate dark chips 

•1 box Melba Snacks Sea Salt

•1 cup of pistachios, chopped and toasted


1.Stir chocolate in large bowl set over saucepan of boiling water until melted and smooth making sure that water does not touch bowl and that the chocolate does not get too hot.


2.Remove from over water.


3.Dip into melted chocolate to cover half the Melba Snack.


4.Gently shake off excess chocolate.


5.Place on baking sheet and quickly sprinkle with chopped pistachios.


6.Refrigerate until chocolate is firm, about 35 minutes.

whew! I thought I was the only weirdo that snuck melbas outta the cracker basket at the grocery salad bar ;) this looks like a YUMMMMMMMY dessert-y treat!
