Just a quick howdy-do and gift update...

Got some of this, Mmmmm.
There are a few versions of Angel but the original is
my favorite. It smells like BOMBSHELL! to me.

And one of these...

And with my first mp3 player (and it's a whopper of an mp3 player, too.
I can connect to wi-fi with an iTouch) I enter the 21st century, musically speaking.

See's Lollipops... Oh! My! Stars... All I can say is.... Wow!
80 calories and they take forever to eat. So far I've tried the
Butterscotch and heaven, just heaven...

And look what I gave...

You put the 'sticks' in the ground (in this case around my walk way)...and Voila!
Solar powered snowflakes!
And they were lit all night. Man, I love these things

I watched these for a ridiculously long period of time last
night which goes to show you how interesting my life is...

By the way, it's pretty much pouring out, can you hear the rain?
But I still had to video these and show them. Again, no life.

I get an iTouch, and I'm videoing color changing snow flakes,
I don't know - that seems weird to me, too.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

My holiday baking...Er, melting...

I was visiting blogs yesterday because, well I visit blogs everyday...And found a recipe on Miz-Cellaneous's blog that I had to make.

If not sooner, but today was the best I could do.

Miz-Cellaneous doesn't know what they are called but I was so there with them! This morning when I was out buying stuff for the family soiree later - Well, okay actually I bought the desserts, I'm going to order...Well, I'm actually not sure yet. Probably a variety of things from a great local Italian place.

Anyway... So I was at the store getting the desserts and everything I needed for my holiday baking - Well, make that holiday melting.

Just follow me here...

You lay out pretzels on a lined cookie sheet...

Put a Rolo (or Hershey's Kiss) on each pretzel

And bake for 3 minutes at 300 degrees...

They look the same when they come out but they are oh so meltly and squishable! Go ahead and squish a pecan into the center and let cool. I put mine out on the porch (It's a balmy 26 degrees today) because they didn't seem to harden back up and, Oh Mommy! Are they good.

My son doesn't like nuts so I did about twenty of them with a caramel Hershey's kiss instead of the pecan because what could be better than caramel and chocolate sitting on top of more caramel and chocolate?

And apparently the answer is... Nothing. Because those rocked hard.

So, I know it's late for a new recipe but these just might be
worth going back out to a grocery store and facing all
the hostile people in parking lots.

And what's up with that anyway? Why do the very same people who
just, in the store, said Happy Holidays! Try to run your sorry butt down
if you try to get into a parking space that apparently had their
name on it?

Can you tell me that?

FYI - You can't use Hershey's caramel kisses instead of Rolo's. In three minutes at 300 in the oven they melt into a pile of goo that is really, really unappetizing. Just trust me here and do not make me describe it.

Vintage what the heck is this thing Thursday?

For Vintage Thingie Thursday I have a mystery I need help with...

I got this at an estate sale in the summer...

Had to have it....

The woman didn't really want to sell it but
it was for sale and I paid a pretty penny...

I guess it had sentimental value. Or I just got taken...
I had no idea what it was and neither did she but a
relative made it a long time ago or so I was told...

I kept it for quite some time and than decided to
part with it because you can't keep everything - Or
so my family keeps telling me... But I had no idea
what to call it or say about it. Or if what I paid was
even reasonable... I wrote a few linen specialists
who had never seen anything like it and their best guess
was 'some sort of kitchen'... Yeah, me too.

So can anyone help me? It's about the size of a pillow...

Embroidered with fruits

And more fruits...

And more...

With all that fruit I was pretty sure
it was kitchen before I asked.

But these holes...

I found these most puzzling. Any thoughts?

The back is, I don't know really...muslin maybe?

And these things...

With the months on them...
They were inside of it.

So, what do y'all think?

I'm going to add a few more close-ups but
have at it... I'm so curious what it could be!

So, help me Rhonda, Help Help me Rhonda!

Well, okay...not just Rhonda... but I'm getting
a little overwhelmed with the thought of going
to the grocery store on Christmas Eve and I
just went a little crazy.

If you're really looking....New Jersey's quite lovely

Since the Sony Wx1 Contest is over I thought I would show you
which entries were mine. (I couldn't before now because
the contest was anonymous.) I didn't win but thanks to
everyone who voted because a school will get 10 cameras, winners choice.

Before this camera you had to use software to 'knit' many pictures together...

fallen leaves

With this camera all I had to do was push a button and move horizontally...

jersey shore 2

It was pretty remarkable, really...

trees in black and white

Since I was posting all the photos, thought I'd use it for Wordless Wednesday...

Although it's not so much Wordless as Wednesday...

But these are some of the best photos I've taken lately!

You can go check out the camera at Sony...

A Retro Tuesday to stick pins in...

So it's Retro Tuesday and I wasn't really feeling it...

retrotuesay stamp

The whole Dell thing remains a giant time suck. (As well as many other kinds of suck.) Ever hear of Good Faith? Pretty much its about the honest intent to act without taking unfair advantage over another person

And I'm thinking that Dell saying they were going to send me a new computer and sending me this...

And than telling me that there are no notes to verify that anyone said they were going to send me a new computer is so far from Good Faith that the light from that statement won't reach Good Faith for 200 million years.

But I'm guessing Mr. Lawrence Tu, being a lawyer ( and having once been a clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall), has heard of good faith. Mr. Tu is the general counsel for Dell and says on his executive page:

"We want to do well as a company, treat the communities we serve well and do business the right way."

I whole heatedly agree, Mr. Tu but think some of the resolution specialists missed that memo.

But anyway back to Retro Tuesday. I was looking through my
magazines and nothing appealed to me until I saw this pin cushion.
It's reflective of my general mood this morning. Go figure.

Actually there are four but I'll give you the directions first...

I really love old directions because they assume people are smart. Directions now assume we are all total ninnies.

So if you want to do retro tuesday with me, I'd love it!
I'm going to try something different - Instead of McLinky I'm just going to
put your link directly here...

Link to me and email me and I will put a link in this post.

Necessary Edges

I've got a new post up on NJ Moms Blog
called Necessary Edges ( here )

If you want to comment, you don't have to come back here.

Leaving them at NJ Moms would be great!

It's about blunting the sharp edges of your kids life...

I've mentioned my first cat, Whisky (but I called him Wizzypoo) a few times lately so I wanted write a post.

Wizzy-poo was a big pink indoor cat...

Who turned on the bathroom sink so he
could drink out of the faucet.

He loved to hang out in the windows
looking ... just looking.... for hours.

Although sometimes we went outside and he...

...Love every minute of it...

But his absolute favorite thing was....

Crouching in the high weeds waiting for
absolutely anything to go by!

I lost a lot of ankles that way.

Wizzypoo lived well into his teens and I've never replaced him.

I need a giant muffin...

Did you ever have a really hard week?

And you know all that's left is to close your eyes and
go to your happy place or you'll go mad?

blue skies

That's my happy place. Isn't it pretty?

I didn't have an internet connection for about half the week,
about lost my mind. And oh, Dell sent me the 'new' computer
and I can't even talk about it right now or I will have
to immediately go back to, um....

blue skies

And I'll never finish the post.

So let me move on to something good that happened this week...

Got some great new pillows....

Cause, this week really was about the little things...
But I'll tell you I've not had much chance to try them out because...

Miss Ginger keeps moving them into one giant pillowy pile...

Than dragging her muffin to the tippy top....

And somehow she ends up under a pillow too...

And just looks at me....

And I can't bring myself to take any of the pillows away because she looks so (adorable) happy. And looking at these pictures I'm thinking maybe what I need is a Tracy-sized muffin instead of an imaginary happy place.
