A Retro Tuesday to stick pins in...
So it's Retro Tuesday and I wasn't really feeling it...

The whole Dell thing remains a giant time suck. (As well as many other kinds of suck.) Ever hear of Good Faith? Pretty much its about the honest intent to act without taking unfair advantage over another person
And I'm thinking that Dell saying they were going to send me a new computer and sending me this...

But I'm guessing Mr. Lawrence Tu, being a lawyer ( and having once been a clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall), has heard of good faith. Mr. Tu is the general counsel for Dell and says on his executive page:
But anyway back to Retro Tuesday. I was looking through my
magazines and nothing appealed to me until I saw this pin cushion.
It's reflective of my general mood this morning. Go figure.

Actually there are four but I'll give you the directions first...

I really love old directions because they assume people are smart. Directions now assume we are all total ninnies.
And I'm thinking that Dell saying they were going to send me a new computer and sending me this...

And than telling me that there are no notes to verify that anyone said they were going to send me a new computer is so far from Good Faith that the light from that statement won't reach Good Faith for 200 million years.

"We want to do well as a company, treat the communities we serve well and do business the right way."
I whole heatedly agree, Mr. Tu but think some of the resolution specialists missed that memo.

13 People got a gold star today!:
Aaaaaaarrrrgghhh! So, where does one get those long hat pins that you could stick in a....uh....well, a little Dell Customer Service Person Voodoo Doll or something??? Just wondering. The world is full of idiots, Tracy. Why do we keep finding them?
Lin, yeah really. One more resolution person is going to call and I guess I will see if what is printed on these executive pages are meaningful statements or just so much verbiage...
Oooooooh how frustrating for you!! I feel your pain!! Luckily I'm married to a computer whiz... what can't he do? .. so any problem I have I just got "HONNNNNNNEY!?!??!?" LOL... and I had to laugh, that top photo of the pin cushion I was thinking .... she's removing their brains and sticking it to them.. LOLOL... maybe you should just send them that photo and they'll know how serious you are!
They do know my frustration level... Believe it or not. I'm giving it one more shot with one more person.
As to the problem with the computer, it was a known issue with that model and it wasnt only my issue - it was a common issue that many people had. I had a series of the same parts replaced multiple times. They stopped making it.
I know how you feel. I get frustrated over the whole phone thing too since you have to pay for the insurance, and they still give you a refurbished phone. Hope things go better. I love your retro pin cushion though. Will have to try it! Thanks for sharing.
Blia - thats very interesting because I have insurance on my son's phone and I never checked to see if it was a refurb or not. Hmmmm
And yes, about the pin cushion, I have passed up a lot of these types of things because I don't know what to do with them but this really is a very nice and not complicated project.
Customer service seems all too often a major oxymoron (er, a little extra emphasis on the moron syllable is probably good). Awesome pincushions and some pretty wicked looking pins. Soooo, are we fantasizing about shishkabobbing anyone in particular? :o)
Jen, Not at the moment. I'm actually waiting for them to do right by me. Hope springs eternal.
Aaaargh, I'm sorry about your Dell-pain! I can't believe they did that!
Well I've been thinking about getting a laptop and all I can say is "Dude, I'm not getting a Dell"
Isn't that just typical that they would not have a record of anyone saying they would send you a new one.
I love that those pin cushion instructions begin with, "all you need, BESIDES a silver napkin ring..."
Hey you! Yes I'm okay. I went on a road trip with my love. I'm back now and I'll post something tomorrow. I had a great time and now I'm oh so not ready for Xmas...MAN OH MAN IT'S IN 2 DAYS AND I HAVE A GAZILLION COOKIES TO BAKE!!!!!!LOL
About your laptop...this is soooo crappy! nobody deserves this! You need to write to the president of Dell
I have found something in my mom's rummagings (spelling????) and want to send you a lil surprise. So please send me your address on my email. lynette355 @ yahoo
Hope you like it....No it is not a new Dell.
