Retro Tuesday All Week Long's Salute to the Unfortunate 70's Blog Hop...

Whenever I'm looking for Retro Tuesday ideas I always come across things that make me shake my head - and you know, it's funny - most of these unfortunate ideas are clustered around 1970.

So today I'm putting these all together as an unfortunate salute to 1970.

In almost every magazine I look through prior to the 70's I find something classic; something worthy of coveting. Something that is still being made today. Sometimes the same thing in the ad; the very same model is still in production today.

But this?

The picture clock here...

Who wouldn't throw the nearest projectile at that monstrosity?

And this?

I guess they added "whimsical" to the name just in case
it didn't occur to you that this was, ya know...ridiculous.

And okay, in 1970 did you know this?

Uh-huh...'tis true.

The. Meat. Toaster.

Oddly enough, several words I never thought of putting together....

And it's 'that' green too. Brady Bunch Green. Which is normally enough to get me to like stuff...but this time? I'm just not feeling the meat toaster.

Ok...the meat toaster is scary but I am nuts over the snack hound!! If I found one -- or 20-- why--I'd buy them all! Stan

I don't believe it. I missed out on all these beauties.

Oh the nightmare cleaning that meat toaster.

My favorite clock from the 60/70 was the Felix the Cat looking thing whose tail swung like a pendulum and the numbers ran backwards.

The star burst clocks used to freak me out.

I am strangely drawn to the whimsical snack hound. I want one.

I have a meat toaster. These days its called a Rocket Grill and it's not that very cool green color, but still.

I'm thinking the psychedelic 60's spilled over in to the crazy 70's and this is the result. Gotta love the kitschy hot dog though.

I think everyone loves the snack dog! I googled him and found that one had been sold on eBay Australia recently... Not this exact one but close. So looks like that are around!
