Vintage Button Porn... it's a sickness I tell ya...
Is there something at estate sales you just can't resist?

Even though there is no practical use for... um....what ever it is...

Let's use vintage buttons for arguments sake.

Not that I need a 12-step or anything...

No really, I don't...

It's just that I see them sitting there sparkling like diamonds...

And turn to button-wanting goo...

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I don't really need the buttons...

Don't sew, don't even collect them...

Per se...

And believe you me, when I come home with more my family is all over me...

YOU'RE KIDDING RIGHT? MORE BUTTONS?

And I'm all, Hey! Be thankful my obsession isn't lounge chairs, y'all...

Is there something like that for you?
P.S. - A few people suggested I list some buttons on Etsy and I did and will probably continue...all...day...long.. Buttons HERE!

I must say I'm fascinated by vintage buttons. People really paid attention to details back then, not like today where all buttons are round, black or white! :)
I collect small pieces of furniture with plans to paint or refinish, but most sit piled in the basement. The few that I've actually done, though, have turned out great. It's JUST enough excuse to not get rid of everything...
The buttons are cool! I hope you can turn a profit on Etsy. And buy more buttons!
I love buttons, but I can never figure out what to do with them.
BTW - Love how the backgrounds on the pictures compliment the buttons.
Those are cool buttons, my Mum had some great old buttons from my Grandma. They'd keep great big jars full of them. I've never been to an estate sale but we did quite a few auctions, you know, the ones listed on the back of the nytimes. got some great furniture pieces and lots of fittings & tile for our house.
Hee, hee. That was really a very entertaining post. I LOVE the buttons that you have found. They are beautiful! I do sew and I often wish I could find that special button for my project. But I live in a very small town where our options are VERY limited. I would love some of these for the aprons that I just made.
My Grandmother had a huge jar full of odds and ends buttons. You would have been in heaven.
Thanks so much for stopping by my Wordless Wednesday yesterday! And sorry it took me so long to stop by to visit you!
I love those buttons! And I'm with you regarding seeing them and just having to have them. They are little treasures.
Have a great day!
My can't resist list would be LOOOOONG. Your vintage buttons look great! I like to use buttons in NON sewing craft projects.
Have a great day!
I used to collect snow globes. You know those tacky plastic ones. I loved them. Had them all over the place. Had to put them up to make room for the second kid.
At least buttons don't take up too much room.
Of course I collect buttons too, go figure...you have some real beauties here. Have a great VTT! and a great weekend.
What unique vintage buttons! I have my own vintage button collection. You either "get" getting all excited about buttons or you don't. If you need another fix check out http://buttonfloozies.blogspot.com/
Ohhh, I know what you mean! I love old buttons. In fact, I'm making some magnets out of old buttons today...stay tuned for my blog--it's a surprise that I'll post later today or tonight!
Love your buttons, too. I also collect vintage buttons.
Your buttons are fantastic. I love them too but don't collect them - although I do have a couple of containers full just for the heck of it I guess. Yes, lucky they aren't lounge chairs - too funny!!!
Lots of pretty buttons. For me it's not just the shape but the material they made them with.
But with you, the proof is in the pudding - you don't sew or collect them, apparently! I've heard it said that if you have more than 3 of something it's a collection. I'm just saying.....
Obviously buttons are addictive. So many people collect them. Even non-collectors. haha
I am exactly the same about old magazines and tacky retro cookbooklets! ;)
Those are all so lovely, how could you NOT buy them?
I'm like that with cat stuff. I can't help myself... if I see something with a picture of a cat on it, I buy it. I have curtains, dishes, accessories, figurines... even the bathroom decor is cat-themed.
I'm a huge animal lover!

I found a *huge* jar of buttons one day in a thrift shop. I just had to buy it! Why? Because. . . .
Love the title of this post! The buttons are gorgeous, and I can totally see why you brought them home. Is there something like that for me? Uh yeah. I buy vintage bling, like that first picture, and I bring it home and put it in an old apothecary jar. How silly and useless is that?! And when another metal picnic basket arrives in the mail, I am asked "Another one?". It's a sickness!
Happy VTT!

My hubby would be glad if I collected buttons and not dishes, LOL ! Great collection !

I have a serious problem with handbags.
and patent leather.
and anything shiny or sparkly. I LOVE these buttons. My daughters will too, I have to show these off.
Thanks!
GREAT post -- great buttons. I LOVE old buttons, and i used to use the ones my Mom gave me on my girls' clothes, until they got old enough to say, "No more!"
But buttons today just don't have the same soul, you know?
And no, you don't collect buttons. and I don't collect vintage silverware.... truly, we don't.

Beautiful buttons! I like to make stuffed Christmas trees out of old quilt tops, stuff them and use old buttons as the ornaments.
OMG...I am heading to your shop RIGHT NOW!
Maybe I should send you some? Mine are doing nothing either!
Actually there are several things I can't resist at estate sales, LOL! Buttons, linens, cats.....
I was wondering if kids still play "Button Button who has the button" but I quickly realized that allowing children to hold a stray button in their hand now days would probably be considered child abuse.
I love buttons.
button button you got the button
gosh i will get caught up on blog reading one day just with verizon messing me over i am way way way behind.......well you know how it all goes.
I have lots of lamps that I haven't remade yet, and lampshades, and end tables... glass dishes.. oh yeah I've got a few buttons too.
Yours are beautifully displayed!
Kathy
They are such a simple thing and if they make you happy, why not?
